Been So Long and So Much has Happened

Its been so very long since I posted and all I can say is it been a busy time.  From my Surgery in late December 2022 to my recent news that I may have Leukemia, the time has been full with family and all sorts of activity.  Oh.. and did I mention Linda and I are going to Kenya for safari Sept 19 through 28?  Like I said - SO MUCH going on.
I am very excited for our time away on safari, but at the moment that joy is overshadowed by the news I likely have Leukemia.  I take the bone marrow biopsy today to effectively determine if I do and if so what type.  Results to be ready by next Thursday July 20th.

Despite the news I slept well - why not?  There is little I can do to change what is going on in my body.  Why did I get prostate cancer 5 years ago?  Why did it come back 3 years ago? Why do I have this now?  LOL - was it because I rode behind DDT fog generated by the neighborhood mosquito sprayers in the late 50's?  Rolled mercury in my hands?  Worked in 1970s to 1990s manufacturing with chemicals all over later to prove carcinogenic?  Or - just bad luck?  It doesn't matter.  Can't prove what it was nor change it now.

The best thing to do is work to stay as healthy as I can and enjoy life as much as I can.  Linda and I are both SO excited about Kenya.  I love her so dearly I cannot explain it adequately in words.  She does more than fulfill my life she lights it up and makes waking a joy - like seeing the morning sun, and going to sleep a blessing as she wraps me in her love where I feel safe and joyful for the next new day.  I am very excited to go on this trip with her and that despite this illness still can do so.  It may be our last trip together.  We have had so many and all of them great because we were together.

Anyway wanted to start this blog back up and write down my process/journey through whatever treatment comes up.  Today - Ultrasound of the spleen (which appears to be swollen) and a bone biopsy for marrow withdrawal

OH WAIT - How did I find this all out since I feel fine?  Got lucky again.  With my prostate we found the high PA as part of a routine blood test at work.  I asked them to check other stuff just for the heck of it and they would the PSA was high - dangerously high.  That saved my life as I had no outward symptoms.
This time I went to see my cardiologist for a routine / annual visit and all was well.  At the end I simply mentioned some bruising on my fingers and back of legs (I seldom if ever bruise).   She suggested a blood test and it came back with high WBC and high platelets.  She said I should see my primary and more blood work and the levels were higher.  He had a pathologist look at it who recommended I see a blood cancer specialist who took more blood and more tests and that is where we are at today  So two unscheduled and random blood tests likely saved my life.  Not happy with the disease (whatever it turns out to be) but still lucky with a chance to live a while longer!
