Series - Africa 3

The process (and expenses) are moving along nicely.  Linda and I have been listening to several books on Kenya in regards to:
> Customs
A simple list of do's and don'ts within a culture that is different than our own. Everything from tipping, when and how much. To what is considered polite conversations and what is considered disrespectful (such as pointing at someone).  We both want to enjoy our trip in every way but also to show gratitude for experiencing their country.

> Money (digital currency)
This I need to explore more about the Kenyan Shilling and where to exchange my money and even how much I would need there.  I believe three is a Kenyan Shilling card.  But there is more I need to learn.

> Vaccinations and healthcare
One of the vaccines that is a must is Yellow Fever.  There are others, and Linda has found a resource near us with Prohealth that will assist us to ensure we have all that we may need.
Also I need to ensure our travel insurance and our own insurance covers us there should we need medical attention.

> Clothes
We need to pack wisely.  Weight limits - especially for the safari days - are quite rigid.  The type of material style and especially color is critical.  For example, black and blue attract Tse Tse Flies - so that is a big NO.
Shoes must be purchased early so there is time to break them in before safari.

> Wi-Fi, electricity
We will need an adapter for our electronics although we are only taking our phones with us.  There will be no Wi-Fi while on Safari.

> Posible criminal activity
I need to learn the codes for police, fire and medical emergency.

> Visas
Visas are required for Kenya and Linda and I have valid passports but a visa is required as well.

There is more that I need to look into , but all of it has made us desire the trip more.  Because with everything we hear we need to do to prepare we hear also the wonders we will see and experience.

Today I start growing my beard AND start my diet and exercise programs.  I am beginning gently - so gently that most people might not even notice it.  But truly I am starting it.  I want to be looking, feeling and actually be in good chape for this trip.

Further info as I do stuff.  There will sometimes be daily reports and sometimes weekly.
To anyone that does read this... Thanks!
