Bias - Beliefs - Hate

I've noticed a lot of my contacts on social media posting vicious memes and comments about political parties and people.  Most of it is inaccurate using snippets of information or hearsay.  What I find even more disturbing is when I confront them using multiple sources (liberal, moderate and conservative) they tell me that they don't believe it or even worse don't care what the data shows. Now I have my beliefs, ideas etc like everyone but it is like I told my children: "If you cannot defend your beliefs and concepts in a civil respectful discussion, then perhaps you should re-examine them."

I try not to hate.  I try to understand other views realizing that what works for me may not work for everyone.  So when I see the hate on-line I become disheartened.  When I see that people hate so much they would ignore what is in favor of what they want it to be - sometimes no matter who it hurts.

I am particularly confused by those my age who have seen the world's injustices and still want to inflict them still onto others.

I will continue to try and inform. I will continue to try and listen to other's views and continue to research multiple venues for whatever truths I can glean.
